Something to think about ?

With the New Year upon us we should not forget the most catastrophic years in recent history and learn from those events. The insurance industry on the whole has suffered mind-boggling losses in the billions of dollars due to fire, flood, hurricanes and tornadoes. These losses mainly are a result of mother nature, however there are still more losses on the horizon due to the continuing cunning of the professional insurance fraud criminal.

Just think of the number of vehicles and boats that have been damaged due to wins, rain, flood and fire. Many of these vehicles were new or late model high value vehicles and will surely become salvage pieces. Think of the opportunity this will present for the organized crime/insurance fraud cartels. These salvage pieces will definitely appear in the New York Metro area soon if they are not here already. Paying Auto Theft, Fire, Vandalism and other claims for these same vehicles will now victimize the insurance industry writing Auto and/or Marine coverage.

Insurance Fraud has and continues to be a growing problem for insurance carriers no matter what type of coverage they provide. Companies who have down sized their SIU units and those who utilize those on non-productive private claim service and investigation vendors are currently paying the price. One of the most prevalent insurance fraud problems is still the No Fault Claim. Most claim service vendors and investigative firms still DON'T GET IT. They only cover the bases they interview the claimant, do the Examination Under Oath and the IME and conclude their investigation with no findings other than PAY THE CLAIM.
