Oberammergau's re-enactment of the Passion of Our Lord dates back to
the early 17th century. The Black Plague was ravaging Europe,
two-thirds of the German-speaking population having succumbed to
this terrible disease. In protection, the Council of Oberammergau
imposed a quarantine upon travel into or out of the village. But a
homesick villager slipped past the guards in an effort to return to
his family, carrying the horrible plague with him. Within days he,
his family and eighty other villagers lay dead. Terrified and
helpless to stop the spread of the plague, the villagers gathered in
their church to pray. As a community they vowed to God that if He
should spare them any further ravages of the plague, they would
re-enact the Lord's Passion every ten years until the end of time.
According to historical accounts, a miraculous remission of the
deadly plague occurred and the village was spared. 206 Tours

Day 3
Munich - Oberammergau
After breakfast, a comprehensive tour of
Munich, Germany's beautiful major city. In the afternoon we
motor to the foothills of the Ammergau Alps to the village of
Oberammergau. Settle into the hotel or stroll the charming
streets of this quaint village before dinner and overnight.
Day 4
Oberammergau
After breakfast, we attend a performance of
the Passion Play lasting the entire day. The performance will sweep
you away because of its realism and stunning chronicle of the life
of Christ. We join thousands of pilgrims from around the world for
this rare millennium presentation, taking our seat in the audience
and a place in history. Evening transfer to Munich for dinner and
overnight.

Munich - USA or Italy, Medjugorje, Holy Land
Transfer to Munich Airport for your return
flight to the USA or continue your spiritual journey to Italy,
