9 DAYS

Day 1 New York - London
Depart for your spiritual adventure from New York's JFK airport for an overnight flight to London. Dinner and breakfast served aboard.

Day 2 London - Cambridge
After meeting our local guide, we begin our journey by traveling north by deluxe motor coach to Cambridge, an ancient university town of great architectural beauty. Dinner and overnight in Cambridge.

Day 3 Cambridge - Excursion to Walsingham
After breakfast we travel north for our short ride to one of the four greatest Shrines in Christendom, Our Lady of Walsingham. This Shrine has been welcoming pilgrims for nearly 1,000 years, since Our Lady appeared to Richeldis de Faverches in 1061. The Virgin, after showing Richeldis the Holy House of Nazareth, asked him to build a replica of it on that very spot. Beginning construction, he grew concerned that the house might be ill placed. After he spent the night in prayer Richeldis witnessed angels pick up the partially completed house and move it elsewhere in the field. The workmen arriving the next morning found the home relocated and finished with a craftsmanship beyond their talents. Word of the miracle spread and soon pilgrims poured into the region to honor the Blessed Mother and view the replica of the Holy House.  Damaged during the Reformation, the Shrine stood empty for 350 years until it was restored in 1890. We will celebrate Mass and also visit the nearby Slipper Chapel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4 Cambridge - Sudbury - Aylesford - Maidstone
After breakfast, we cross the beautiful English countryside to Sudbury, birthplace of the great artist, Thomas Gainsborough. We celebrate Mass at St Gregory's Church built in 1365 by Archbishop Simon of Sudbury. Traveling on, we arrive at England's Carmelite center in Aylesford. In 1251 Our Lady appeared to Simon Stock, the Prior General of the Carmelite Order. During this apparition, Our Lady handed Simon a brown woolen scapular as a sign of her love and protection for all children. Our Lady also promised that all who wore a "habit' devoutly, would be assured eternal salvation as a reward of final perseverance. We will have time for prayer and reflection before proceeding to Maidstone for dinner and overnight.

Day 5 Maidstone, Excursion to Canterbury
After breakfast, we motor southeast to the Shrine of St Thomas Becket in Canterbury.  St Thomas, Archbishop of Canterbury refused to yield to a state that would harm the Church. Four assassins were dispatched to murder him in the cathedral. Soon after Canterbury Cathedral began to draw thousands of pilgrims, eager to kneel before the martyred saint's tomb. The faithful continued to go on pilgrimage to Canterbury - the goal of the pilgrims in Chaucer's Canterbury Tales - into the 16th century when King Henry VIII destroyed the holy Shrine and its relics. Rebuilt to its current splendor and now the seat of the Anglican Church, pilgrims once again demonstrate their faith by journeys to the site of St Thomas' martyrdom. Return trip to Maidstone for dinner and overnight.

Day 6 Maidstone - London
After breakfast, we leave for London. After settling into our hotel, we tour the opulent Westminster Cathedral. Celebrate Mass and contemplate the beauty of the Cathedral before returning to the hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 7 London
After breakfast, we tour the ancient City of London. We will celebrate Mass at St Paul's Cathedral and then visit the extraordinary Tower of London. An optional dinner cruise on the river Thames is available at additional cost. We will visit the naval town of Portsmouth, where Henry VIII's flagship sank on its maiden voyage in 1547. The ship was recovered and later elevated for display. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8 London
Shortly after breakfast we visit Southwark Cathedral, situated on the south bank of the Thames river. The cathedral was built in the 13th century, but largely rebuilt in the 1890s.
